Pinnacle Dance founder Kim Denson has always had a passion for dance. She began dance lessons at the age of four.  Her life has been enriched with dance, performance, choreography and teaching ever since. Married for eighteen years, Kim and her husband Marvin have two daughters ages 19 and 10, who also dance.

Kim grew up taking dance lessons and competing in gymnastics. Eventually dance became her number one passion and she continued to dance throughout high school and college, working with a wealth of talented choreographers from all over the world.

Kim received her Bachelors Degree from Arizona State University with a major in Dance. and received the “ASU Faculty Award for Excellence in Dance Education.”  She earned her teaching credentials from Chapman University.

While performing as an Arizona Cardinals Cheerleader, she began her first year of teaching dance and coaching the varsity pom-line. Not long after, she received, the “KNIX Teacher of the Week Award.”

Kim has been teaching dance in the high school system for over 12 years, working with over 220 students each year. Kim choreographs and teaches ballet, jazz, tap, modern, lyrical, hip hop, tumbling and more. She choreographs for musicals and has staged and directed over one hundred sellout dance productions.

Her solo performers have won cash awards and scholarships competing at the Herberger Theatre and local dance competitions. Currently, her talented and professional elite group, Peoria Dance Theatre, performs throughout the valley year after year promoting dance. Her students have gone on to perform in various dance companies. Some currently teach dance and perform professionally.

Kim says, “Teaching dance has always been internally rewarding to me because in addition to my students developing technique, skill, poise, intelligence and discipline, they also establish an amazing amount of self confidence that will last a lifetime.”
